Campbeltown Running Club hosted its annual Slog in the Sand race, together with Campbeltown’s Jog Scotland group, last Saturday, helping members of both clubs to blow away the festive cobwebs.
Traditionally held on Boxing Day, the race was this year moved to December 28 in a bid to suit as many people as possible.
Conditions were windy as entrants made their way across Westport beach in 5k and 10k race options.
However, compared to previous years, when the event has sometimes been cancelled because of conditions, the weather was on side.
It held until the prize-giving, when the following medal-winners were presented with their prizes:
Ladies’ 5k winners: 1 Rachel MacPhail 26:42; 2 Shannon Binnie 27:13; 3 Emma Millar 28:10.
Men’s 5k winners: 1 Robbie Semple 26:39; 2 Tony Woods 37:07.
Ladies’ 10k winners: 1 Susie Graham 56:40; 2 Elizabeth Nimmo 1:01:48; 3 Rebecca Helliwell 1:02:08.
Men’s 10k winners: 1 Neil Littleson 41:25; 2 Chris Anderson 47:16; 3 Dom Sharkey 48:47.
