Safety concerns surround a locked gate at Ganavan that could block access for emergency services.
An Argyll and Bute spokesperson said: “The council is committed to encouraging healthy activities and has invested in walking and cycling routes, active travel apps and promoting better journeys. Community-run activities are to be welcomed.
“It is general policy for the council and other landowners to lock vehicle gates, to keep vehicles separate from walkers, cyclists and runners for their safety. However, on this particular occasion, Oban parkrun will have their own padlock and the ability to open the gate when required.”
Doreen told The Oban Times that she still has serious ’out of parkrun’ concerns for emergency services having quick access to the path from the locked Ganavan end.
