It was all smiles at St Columba’s Primary in Oban this week when the school totted up £3,959.90 funds raised within just a few weeks.
The first event was a sponsored walk in May, where they made a total of £2,103.90 walking the distance of 880km, the same distance that St Columba travelled when he travelled from Gartan to Derry then Clonard to Iona, which meant everyone in the school had to walk 5kms each.
They walked a total of 1045km, with Innes walking the most by a Primary 1, 2, 3 and 4, and Euan who walked the most by a Primary 5, 6 and 7. The Clan that walked the most distance was Derry.
The Parent Council also ran a Clan Raffledrawn on June 14 making an incredible £1,426.
Chairperson Shona Fox said: “We continue to be blown away by the support we receive as this helps us to give the children valuable experiences, and well done to the winners of our 25 hampers.”
The final fundraiser was by staff member Kirstie Smith took part in the Ride to Sun 121-miles bike cycle challenge, from Carlisle to Cramond Beach in Edinburgh.
Kirstie raised £430 and said: “I wanted to raise money for the school to help support the care and education the school provides for over 180 pupils. The school goes above and beyond to provide enriching opportunities for all the children. They have a wonderful parent council, staff members, families and the wider community who all help, and I wanted to support them and the children with my fundraising adventure."
The staff and parent thank everyone who supports St Columba’s School throughout the year and hopes everyone has a lovely summer holiday.
