The event took place at the Corran Halls on Monday December 16 and senior students arrived dressed to the nines in kilts, suits and gowns.

Students in their final year were particularly looking forward to the ‘Winter Wonderland’ themed dance and they got their moment in the limelight during the ‘S6 walk in’ procession which kicked off the night.

In a new addition to Jingles, the sixth form students also performed a Circassian Circle Dance to the tune of September by Earth, Wind & Fire which they had been perfecting at school for the past few weeks.

The floor was then filled with students as Marram, a traditional band made up of former pupils, took the stage for the ceilidh section of the night.

Later in the evening, rock and pop band CHUNKS had the crowd singing along to hits from Oasis and The Killers and then DJ Sam Coates brought the house down with his energetic set.

Senior Depute Head Teacher and Jingles coordinator Aileen Jackson said: “After the ceilidh, it turned into more of a rock concert and then a rave at the end. They were all jumping up and down.”

S6 student Euan Tosh has DJ decks at home and was elated when Sam Coates allowed him to perform 15 minutes of the set.

Aileen said: “Sam has taken Euan under his wing and was showing him how to use the decks properly. He had a ball and he was up on the stage keeping the crowd going.”

Thanks go to the senior pupil leadership team who organised the Senior and Junior Jingles, Lynne Macleod who coordinated the ticket sales, High School staff who volunteered to supervise, the team at Corran Halls and the pupils who attended the dance.
