OLA FC 09s 2
GDYFL – Under 14s, Division 2
A share of the spoils was all Campbeltown Pupils Youth 2009s could manage when they took on OLA FC 2009s at home last Sunday, despite making a brilliant start to the match.
The local side got off to a flyer, taking the lead in the first minute when Jack Green’s shot-come-cross was turned in at the back post by Ryan Johnston.
Five minutes later, the Pupils doubled their lead when Johnston found Kadyn Prentice, whose classy first touch made space for him to rifle the ball high into the roof of the net.
The Pupils were well on top and only some fine goalkeeping from the OLA keeper kept the score-line down to two, notably saving well from Rio Arkell after the forward had used his pace to burst clear of the defence, and then from a Logan Norris free kick.
The visitors, however, started to play their way back into the match, and a fine save by Alan Myles kept the score 2-0 at half time.

The second half saw the Pupils performance go flat, with no real passage of possession, and this saw OLA gradually grow in confidence.
With 15 minutes to go, OLA got a goal back, and with the visitors having a goal ruled out for offside soon after, the Pupils desperately tried to see out the game.
However, OLA scored a deserved equaliser, and despite the Pupils dominating the final exchanges, the game finished a draw, probably a fair result over the piece.
The Pupils 2009s would like to thank the Campbeltown Tartan Army for their donation of £250 raised from their recent dinner dance. This will go towards the sponsorship of six home games this season.
This Sunday, the Pupils 2009s are at home again to West Park Utd Navy (formerly Thistle Weir), with a 1pm kick-off.
