Whiting Bay Hall celebrates its centenary next year and needs your help.
To mark the special occasion, Whiting Bay Memories social history community group is starting work on a new project involving making past and present maps.
The group secured two years funding for the project from Scottish Power renewables Beinn an Tuirc 3, which was awarded by Arran Community Council who manage the fund.
Help is needed from the community to get hands-on and involved and anyone who has lived or worked in Whiting Bay over the last 100 years is invited to drop in at the village(lesser) hall this Monday March 10 between 11am and 1pm to find out more and maybe fill in the group with some of the information it is looking for.
Barbara I’Anson said: "There’s going to be lots happening in the village for the centenary but this project is something our group is doing.
"Two maps of the village are being created, one showing the buildings in 1926 and one as it is currently and we’re hoping to get people along to help with house names and the names of the families who lived in them. Everyone who has been in Whiting Bay at some time or other will have a snippet of information to share. It’s like a big jigsaw puzzle we’re trying to piece together."
Monday will also be a chance to find out more about the 100 Stitched Stories project and see some of the completed panels.
