Organisers of the Mull of Kintyre Half Marathon and 10K (MOKRun) are encouraging people to get their running shoes on if they want to bag a place in this year’s races.
The 2024 MOKRun Mull of Kintyre Half Marathon and 10K will be held on Sunday May 26, with junior races for youngsters the day before.
Entries for all races opened on Entry Central’s website at www.entrycentral.com/festival/1218 on Sunday January 7 and places are going fast, with more than half the 1,000 places for the half marathon and 10K races being reserved within 24 hours.
Entries for the junior races are almost full already with parents of children keen to take part advised to enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Tickets for Sunday’s after-race ceilidh, organised by the MOKRun committee and South Kintyre Sports Council, are also selling well and are available to participants and non-race participants on Entry Central.
“It is hard to believe it is this time already,” said race director Gail Williams as she and the team prepare for MOKRun 2024.
“Why not set yourself a challenge for 2024? Maybe you just want to be fitter/healthier, need to lose weight or run your first 5km, 10km or half marathon. Whatever the reason, why not enter MOKRun?
“Come along and try a Jogscotland session where our leaders can help you achieve your goal.
“If you commit to the training programme, our proven couch to 5K, and 5K to 10K formulae work. Each week, a training plan will be set, depending on your goal. Training plans can also be found online if you don’t fancy joining a group.”
Campbeltown’s Jogscotland group meets at Campbeltown Ferry Terminal on Mondays at 5.30pm with all abilities welcome. The current block started on Monday January 15.
Gail added: “For those looking for a personal best in either a 10K or half marathon, Campbeltown Running Club offers training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.”
