There has been a wave of anti-tourism protests at many cities and towns traditionally popular with visitors to Spain.
Natives have been vocally against the growing cost and lack of housing that is available to them, and of course, Oban shares a similar concern.
We took to the streets to ask people what they think.
In Spain, people have been out in their thousands, taping off hotels, bars and restaurants, body blocking customers, shooting tourists with water guns and spraying graffiti on classic tourist attractions to show how they think tourisim is now negatively impacting their lives.
Similarly to Oban, there is an issue in many places surrounding housing, namely the prioritising of short term lets over permanent residences.
These holiday homes, protesters say, are taking away their options, meaning that many cannot afford to or find a way to stay in their home city. Oban, also reliant on its tourist economy, bears some of these same burdens.
When asking both locals and tourists what they thought of this problem, there was a lot of support for the protesters’ cause - but not their methods.
With housing cost still spiralling in the Iberian peninsula, more protests are being planned.
If changes to laws around housing do occur in Spain because of these, would you like to see similar measures implemented in Argyll and Bute? What should they entail? Tell us in the comments below.
