People across Argyll and Bute have come together to clean up streets as part of environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful’s annual Spring Clean.
Spring Clean Scotland is Keep Scotland Beautiful’s annual challenge to tackle Scotland’s litter emergency.
Seventy five separate litter picks were recorded by the charity in Argyll and Bute between March 15 and April 28, showing the enthusiasm that exists to improve the area.
Nationwide, more than 45,000 people from every local authority area across Scotland joined forces to take part in litter picks, gather data and to raise awareness of the country’s litter emergency.
There have even been clean-ups after the end of the spring clean window - in Craignure, Mallaig, Skipness and Fort William to name a few.
Many clean-ups were organised by schools and community groups, which accounted for more than 1,300 litter picks across Scotland combined.
Barry Fisher, chief executive at Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “Although 90 per cent of people agree litter is a problem across our beautiful country, what is inspiring is just how many thousands of people have played their part and enthusiastically joined a litter picking event during Spring Clean Scotland – an increase of 15,000 people from last year.
“Thank you to everyone across Argyll and Bute who took part, giving up their time and showing just how much they care about keeping Scotland beautiful. Your commitment to tackling the litter emergency is appreciated.”
