Contractor for Argyll and Bute Council on the £1.5 million project, Hawthorn Heights, has paved the public square in Achnaba stone; pavement alterations on Lochnell Street are complete and trees have been planted to replace the horse chestnuts felled last year. The Landscaping Centre, Oban, has planted 12 beech trees with a further six hawthorn going in near the play area. Other shrubs and bushes will follow.
After completion of the Lochnell Street footway, attention has returned to finishing off other aspects of the scheme, including the play area.
Contractors arrived on site on May 31 last year, with a target completion date of April 2022.
Look out for further updates on the scheme's progress.
