Lochaber Rugby Club recognised the achievements of its youngest players when they held a dedicated awards day in their Banavie clubhouse on Sunday June 16.
Two events were held, firstly for primary aged children in the Juniors category, followed by secondary aged Youths.
With a buffet and entertainment laid on everyone had an enjoyable time, which concluded with awards ceremonies.
In introducing the awards, Lochaber RFC President Gary Hendrie praised the players, their families and coaches for their dedication and support, saying that "it was a very difficult task to pick out individuals amongst so much talent, and that all of the awards very very close run”.
Award winners in the Juniors section were: Seamus Laidler (P1 Player of the Year); Jaxon Colyer (P4/5 Player of the Year); Kyle MacLeod (P2 Most Promising Player) Hamish MacDonald (P6/7 Most Improved
Player); Ben Yearling (P3 Most Promising Player); Finlay Melton (P4/5 Most Improved Player); Alan Andrews (Best Attendance).
Youths section winners: Archie Campbell (U18 Player of the Year); Alex Drysdale (U16 Player of the Year); James Smith (U16 Most Improved Player of the Year); Rocco Beradelli (U14 Player of Year); Donnie MacAskill (U14 Most Improved Player of the Year); Cody MacKay (Most Improved Player of the Year).
Girls: Maggie Jackson (U16 Player of the Year); Cerys Sutherland (U16 Most Improved Player of the
Year); Milli Lawrie (U14 Player of the Year).
Director of Youth Rugby Stevie McAleer also received an award after being named Lochaber RFC Person of the Year.
