Residents in flats above Argyll Street are at their wits end with late night anti-social behaviour once pubs call time on customers.
One man told us his close is being used by some people to urinate and defecate after closing hours and people living there have had enough of it.
He said he has flagged down a passing police officer in the past in the early hours of one weekend to complain about what is happening but had not made an official complaint that had been logged.
Youngsters have also been chased out of the same close by residents given 'a mouthful of abuse' before the culprits run off.
'It's just getting out of hand,' said another resident who did not want to be named either.
Cans of baked beans have also been thrown at some of the flats' doors.
Oban North and Lorn councillor Kieron Green said no one had complained to him but anyone concerned about anti-social behaviour in the town needs to contact police formally so they can deal with the matter.
'Police do patrol Oban at closing time. There's a large area for them to cover. Potentially all the closes from Combie Street down to George Street could be misused. No one wants their close to be used as a toilet. I'd encourage anyone concerned about this to tell the police,' he said.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'We have not received any reports of ongoing anti-social behaviour issues in the Argyll Street area. Officers carry out regular patrols throughout the town centre. If anyone witnesses any crime take place, or incidents of anti-social behaviour, it should be reported to police. Officers will take the appropriate action when incidents are reported and offenders are identified.'
