Prior approval has been granted for the demolition of four buildings on a residential site at Strachur.
Trust Housing Association submitted the bid for the work to take place at Manse Gardens in the village.
The proposal was made to allow for the redevelopment of the scheme, and no objections were received from the public by Argyll and Bute Council.
One of the authority’s planning officers said in a handling report: “The housing association housing currently consists of 21 dwellings with 3 ancillary community buildings, all but one of the dwellings is single storey.
“The applicant has sequentially submitted an application. The proposal encompasses demolition of the named blocks identified as 3,6 9 and 12 on the submitted plans and this will allow for the redevelopment and renovation of the scheme to allow the refurbishment of the existing scheme and to extend the existing dwellings and making the properties be more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
“The applicant has advised during the extent of the works and demolition to the site all dwellings will be unoccupied to prevent disruption to the residents. The land where the demolition will take place will be made good with new paths and planting before the site is open to the general public.”
The report also quotes the applicant as saying: “The excavator will demolish the masonry walls, ensuring that all walls fall into the footprint of the property.
“The rubble will then be cleared and placed in the appropriate skips for disposal (dust suppression will be available and used in mist spray form when required). Site working times will generally be 8am-5.30pm.”
