Brodick Primary School’s annual fete once again enjoyed one of the brightest and warmest days of the summer which resulted in a huge attendance at the school’s annual fundraising event.
The school fete is run by pupils, teachers and parent volunteers with most of the activities and goods on sale available at “pocket money” prices.
On offer for the pupils and all of the visitors were stalls selling home baking, books, toys, bric-a-brac and plants.
Activities included face painting, tombolas, raffles, guess-the-weight-of-the-cake and a number of other fun activities aimed at entertaining the children.
As in previous years, the burger stall did a roaring trade with parents and pupils buying food while the children darted from stall to stall with their friends.
The human fruit machine – where children display three tins of fruit much like the casino game where three matching items win – was once again very popular, along with the beat-the-goalie game.
Adding a further element of excitement, the Brodick Fire and Rescue Service visited with their appliance which children were allowed to climb in and explore. Firefighters were also on hand to answer any questions and demonstrated some of the equipment that they use.
Proceeds from the well-attended fete are used for covering costs for events and activities which are not covered by normal school funding.
