Late last year Oban woman Jane Terris put out a call for anyone interested in joining the group in celebration of the favourite spot's past as well as future.
With wholehearted support from Friends of Ganavan, the group is now looking for people to come forward and take on roles of office bearers from treasurer to secretary and chairperson.
And they want to hear from others willing to volunteer their time as researchers, historians, environmentalists and anything else to help action a forward plan that would make 'a meaningful difference' to the popular leisure and recreational haunt.
Jane says after her appeal, 'an amazing amount of people have offered some incredible ideas for Ganavan'.
Ideas so far include forming a heritage group to promote and protect the natural landscape and historical significance, apply for funding for projects, a mural of a Sunderland aircraft with a presentation board and sound effects in a nod to Ganavan's wartime aircraft maintenance past.
Bringing back huts, shelters and a playpark, as well as 24/7 toilets, introducing more picnic tables and benches could also be in the plan.
More parking spaces, a heritage trail and even a possible community buy-out are also
among other ideas mooted.
The idea first started as a chance discussion between Jane and Dugie Graham who is a community councillor and runs the snack van in the car park. From that initial conversation, the pair discovered a common interest in Ganavan and wanting it to be valued for its past significance and future potential too.
Dugie said: 'It's been fantastic that there's been so much interest so far, it's something Ganavan has been needing for years.'
