Clachan SWI’s latest guest speaker proved to be a cut above the rest, going to a lot of trouble to prepare materials for members to make their own scissor keeps.
Sue Thomas led the ladies through the steps to create pretty adornment that can be attached to the handles of their scissors.
A group spokesperson said: “After struggling with threading needles, we all managed to attach decorations and beads to a small piece of felt, which when sewn together and stuffed, miraculously turned into a 3D cube or pyramid.
“No lost scissors in Clachan any more!
“We then enjoyed a sumptuous spread and Sue judged the competitions, and we thanked her for giving us such an enjoyable evening.”
Competition results: Scissor keep: 1 Fanping Friel, 2 Pauline Simson, 3 Tricia Weeks; truffles: 1 Pauline Simson, 2 Katarina Smith, 3 Zoe Weir.
