Teams from Tarbert and Ardrishaig joined the host outfit to play for the Johnson Trophy at Lochgilphead Bowling Club on the evening of Friday July 19.
Despite the dreich weather the annual event proved to be a great night of bowls.
Playing on Rink 1 the Tarbert quartet, skipped by Nikki MacDougall, went off into a lead with Lochgilphead, skipped by Colin MacInnes, making a valiant effort to get back into the game. Tarbert’s strength came to the fore with Nikki’s rink winning 14 – 10.
Over on Rink 3 a great cat and mouse game involving Lochgilphead (Craig Bruce, skip) and Ardrishaig (Tommy MacCrae, skip) ended in a tie.
Another exciting game of nip and tuck on Rink 5 saw Duncan MacGregor’s Tarbert four draw with an Ardrishaig team skipped by Jamie Lang.
As the Johnson trophy is played to be won on shots overall, the highest scorer on the night was Tarbert on 27 shots narrowly beating Ardrishaig, who had 26 shots with Lochgilphead on 22 shots.
"Congratulations to Tarbert Bowling Club and well done all the bowlers," said a Lochgilphead BC spokesperson.
"Thanks to all who helped to make the event run smoothly."
