Music and garlands, dancing and fancy dress brought the exotic to Tayvallich last weekend – and even the weather joined in the tropical theme.
The annual gala had a Polynesian vibe with limbo-dancing and Hawaiian barbecue but celebrated the best of Scotland with a crabbing competition and a high-energy ceilidh.
Sunny weather attracted large numbers of locals and visitors alike who threw themselves into an array of contests including a mini marathon fun-run, a dog show, games and a limbo-dancing competition.
Gala-day organiser Sarah Phizacklea told the Advertiser: ‘It really was tropical in Tayvallich for the gala day; an amazing turn out of colourful garland-strung folk came and supported the annual hall event.
“The ever-popular dog show provided entertainment and some difficult decisions for the judges with such a line-up of perfect puppies.
"Fun and games were had all day and we had fabulous barbecue food thanks to our amazing Tayvallich Inn.”
Sarah added that the gala welcomed back the the Tayvallich bears who this year challenged the crowd to a limbo-dancing contest.
The fun continued into the evening with dancers packing out the village hall for the traditional ceilidh, with the band complimenting everyone attending on their enthusiastic dancing.
“To finish off the festivities the Tayvallich World Crabbing Contest was held on Sunday morning in the bay with the winning team bucketing an incredible 78 crabs - surely a record," Sarah added.
