Lochaber Rotary is hosting its annual golf event on Sunday May 26 at Fort William Golf Course in Torlundy.
This will be the 22nd playing of the tournament and will take the funding raised for local charities from this competition alone to almost £60,000.
The club is hoping for a good turnout of local and visiting teams for its “Texas Scramble” contest with the Rotary Trophy and a first prize of £200, as well as a host of other prizes to aim for.
Thanks to sponsorship from a host of local businesses there are prizes for second and third place as well as “nearest the hole at all Par 3s”, “longest drive” and leading ladies and leading visitors’ teams (outwith the first three places).
The main sponsors this year are local businesses Fleming & Fleming, MOWI, John McLellan and Allan Ingram.
Rotary President Flora McKee said that the club was grateful to Fort William Golf Club for the use of the 18-hole course and the clubhouse, and added: “This is one of our premier charity fundraising events of the year and we couldn’t do it without the help of the golf club”
Entry fee is £45 per team – pay on the day. The maximum player handicap is 18 and teams play off 1/10th combined handicap.
Entries should preferably go direct to Fort William Golf Club but can also be made with Am-Am co-ordinator Paul Brian at paulbrianuk@yahoo.co.uk.
