The Great Priory of Scotland has presented Oban Hospice a cheque for £400.
Following a recent discussion where members decided to concentrate their charitable support on giving to local hospices, The Preceptory of Lochaber and Lorn donated the maximum amount of £200 which was match funded by The Great Priory of Scotland, resulting in a cheque for £400 being handed over to The Dove Centre.
A spokesperson for The Great Priory of Scotland said members hoped it would help The Dove Centre continue its excellent work in providing its various support services to the local community.
Oban Hospice provides services from the Dove Centre and in the community, including Dove Outreach and Dove Befriending. Oban Hospice supports people with a new diagnosis of cancer and/or certain life-limiting conditions (Parkinson, MS & MND), and those with an existing diagnosis who need advice or assistance at a particular point in their lives.
Help on offer includes practical support and information, a listening ear and counselling, therapies, bereavement support and family support, emotional support, as well as access to befriending and support services, and specialist massage for people with cancer. The centre also runs group activities.
