After raising more than £14K for communities across Scotland, the Salmon Wagon will again be bringing their delicious food to events across Scotland this summer.
Since its launch three years ago, the eye-catching food truck has raised £14,258, serving over 3,000 salmon dishes at 26 events, with all of the proceeds going to important local causes. They are now looking forward to another fantastic season in support of 10 deserving groups and you will find them at events including the Fort William Festival of Football, the West Ardnamurchan Regatta, the Glenfinnan Gathering and West Highland Yachting Week to name just a few.
From Village Galas to Highland Games
“We are delighted that the Salmon Wagon has raised a significant amount for many worthy causes,” said Jayne MacKay, Community Engagement Officer at Mowi Scotland. “Having attended the events, which ranged from village galas and agricultural shows, to Highland games and festivals, we are fortunate to have met the charities and communities that will benefit from the funds raised.”
As the main employer in some rural areas of Scotland, Mowi’s staff members are integral to the community, with many volunteering for vital organisations such as the coastguard, mountain rescue and fire services. Mowi is honoured to do their part by donating time, money, equipment or, naturally, salmon, through applications on their "Communiti" website at www.mowi.com/uk/communiti, which is dedicated to all of the company’s community engagement activities.
Mowi - at the heart of the ’Communiti’
The Mowi Communiti initiative offers the chance for local charities to apply for various types of assistance. They have supported groups ranging from the Outward Bound Trust and local beach cleans to the Camanachd shinty leagues.
Now, in what is a natural fit for the programme, successful applicants benefit from the striking food truck arriving at their event fully stocked by Mowi and manned by its talented chefs, with 100% of proceeds from the sale of their food benefitting their chosen charities. Flavourful dishes such as salmon fillet in a bun and noodle salad not only satisfy the taste buds, but each purchase also gives back to the community.
Making a difference
One of the local causes that have benefited from Mowi’s Salmon Wagon is Ewen’s Room, a Fort William based charity that promotes mental wellbeing:
“Through your generosity, you are truly helping us to make a difference, and all of us here at Ewen’s Room value your support immensely. Ewen’s Room has been working hard since 2010 to actively improve mental wellbeing across the Lochaber area. We appreciate each and every one of our donors and wouldn’t be where we are today without their help”.
The Sunart & District Agricultural Society Show was another successful event that was supported by the Salmon Wagon last year.
"Thanks to the Salmon Wagon team who provided a great spread for us at the show this year,” organiser Claire Cameron said. “We had great feedback from all the visitors and locals who said it was lovely to see Mowi supporting a local event."

Could your organisation benefit from the Mowi Salmon Wagon?
Mowi Scotland invites communities and local organisations that would like the fundraising Salmon Wagon to attend their event in 2025 to apply online from the end of October to the end of December 2024. Events which have been previously unsuccessful in their applications are welcome to apply again. Mowi’s panel will meet in January with successful applicants announced in February 2025.
