This month’s results from Machrihanish Golf Club
August has been a busy month at Machrihanish Golf Club, which has so far hosted the Jimmy Kerr Memorial Open, Millennium Trophy, Seniors Open and Coronation Cup competitions.
The Jimmy Kerr Memorial Open Strokeplay competition was played on the Championship Course on Saturday August 3.
Results: Gents’ handicap section: 1 (overall winner) Kyle Colville: 77-13=64; 2 Liam Finn 80-16=64; 3 J S McPhee 80-14=66; 4 Fergus Walker 83-16=67. Gents’ scratch section: 1 Jonathan Diack 70, 2 Giles Longstaff 72, 3 Greg Elphinstone 73, 4 Callum Brown 73. Ladies’ handicap section: 1 Catherine Reid 85-14=71, 2 Maureen Johnstone 114-36=78. Ladies’ scratch section: 1 Anne Storm 92, 2 Jennifer Hart 96. Gents’ 65+ handicap section: 1 Robert McGougan 89-20=69. Special prizes: Closest to the pin at the 4th: Marcus Dodds; closest to the pin at the 15th: George MacMillan; closest to the pin in two at the 18th: Robert McGougan.
The same day, teams of two took part in the Millennium Trophy competition on the Pans Course.
Results: Ladies’ section: 1 (overall winners) M McIntyre and L Ralston: 61.0; 2 J Gilchrist and L Wallace 63.0.
The Seniors’ Open Stableford competition took place on the Championship Course on Wednesday August 7.
Results: Overall winners: 1 Andrew McKie 40 pts, 2 James Ronnie: 39 pts. Aged 55 to 59 section: 1 Andrew McKie 40 pts, 2 Michael Fraser 36 pts, 3 Charles Robertson 35 pts, 4 Stuart Coils 35 pts. Aged 60 to 64 section: 1 Robert McDonald 39 pts, 2 Campbell McCallum 36 pts, 3 James Rose 35 pts, 4 Eric Capocci 35 pts. Aged 65 to 69 section: 1 James Ronnie 39 pts, 2 Dennis Wright 38 pts, 3 Malcolm Stalker 37 pts, 4 Mitchell Ogilby 37 pts. Aged 70+ section: 1 Hugh Gilmour 38 pts (BIH), 2 John Merrylees 38 pts, 3 Duncan Munro 35 pts, 4 Donald MacAlister 34 pts. Special prizes:
Longest drive at the first: G Kelly; closest to the pin at the 4th: R MacLean; closest to the pin in two at the 18th: R Campbell.
Three days later, on Saturday August 10, the Championship Course hosted the Coronation Cup Stableford competition.
Results: Gents’ section: 1 (overall winner) Kevan Gilchrist 38 pts (BIH), 2 Kyle Colville 38 pts (BIH), 3 William Clark 38 pts. Ladies’ section: 1 Elaine Robb 32 pts. Gents’ 65+ section: 1 Graham Anderson: 42 pts.
