Inveraray played host to an exciting night of competition on Saturday, March 1, as 36 pairs gathered for the Alan Cameron Memorial Open Doubles.
The event, now in its third year, saw competitors from the Lorne League (Taynuilt, North Connel, and Kilmore), Cowal League (Colintraive, Strachur and Kilmun), and support from two pairs travelling from Acharn on the banks of Loch Tay.
Of course, the local Loch Fyne League teams too, all battled it out in an evening of high-quality play and sportsmanship.
Held in the Campbell Room of the Inveraray Inn, the competition was organised by Scott MacIntyre and Archie MacColl-Smith, with the venue providing exceptional hospitality and service throughout.
The tournament format consisted of six bowls, seven ends, and a straight knockout structure, keeping players and spectators engaged over the course of seven hours.
Six tables were in play throughout the evening to ensure maximum playing time, two of the tables were provided by Cairndow Bowling Club.
A large raffle, featuring generous donations from local businesses including Brambles of Inveraray, Samphire, The George Hotel, Inveraray Jail, Fyne Den, The Tree Shop, Fynest Fish, and Loch Fyne Hotel, contributed to the lively atmosphere.
A special thanks was extended to WD Semple for its assistance in transporting tables to and from the venue. And of course, the Inveraray Inn for allowing the use of the Campbell room.
