The Woodland Trust had planned to use Tarzan the timber-lugging horse to help but a foot injury means he can no longer take part.
Work is still going ahead, but will be amended slightly using a winch instead of horse power.
The plan is to thin out non-native conifers on the north side of Barra Mor so more light can get through to ancient woodland plants living under them.
Harvesting work will be completed by Friday November 11 but people are being asked to follow advice on signs to stay safe.
The work will be followed by fence replacement and scraping the track clear of mud.
On November 11 and Saturday November 12, workers on the site will be loading up people's vans and trailers with lengths of firewood in return for a donation to Hope Kitchen. Time slots must be booked in advance and will be on a first come first served basis.

With the change in the work, there will be slightly less timber coming out but there will still be around 20 tons in total.
