Tobermory RNLI called out to aid unwell walker

Tobermory RNLI were involved in a multi-agency operation to aid a walker near Rubha nan Gall lighthouse last week.

 

The volunteer crew were involved in a multi-agency operation to aid a walker who became unwell close to the lighthouse on Friday May 12.

 

Crew members launched Tobermory's all-weather lifeboat, Elizabeth Fairlie Ramsey, at around 12.30pm to cover the short distance to the end of the popular lighthouse path.

 

The crew launched the lifeboat’s daughter craft, the Y Boat, and two casualty care-trained crew members negotiated the shallow water and rocks to reach the shoreline where they were joined by members of Tobermory Coastguard Rescue Team.

 

Having assessed the casualty, the lifeboat crew and coastguard officers transferred the person in a stretcher to the lifeboat before returning to collect their partner.

 

The lifeboat then returned to Tobermory, where the casualty was passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

 

Tobermory RNLI Deputy Coxswain, Dave Underwood, said: "This was a great example of multi-agency working alongside our colleagues from Tobermory Coastguard Rescue Team and the Scottish Ambulance Service. All of us at Tobermory RNLI wish the walker a very speedy recovery."
