South Kintyre Development Trust (SKDT) and Inspiralba have received Community Led Local Development (CLLD) funding which will provide much-needed resources to take forward activities relating to climate action priorities identified through the Campbeltown Community Action Plan.
The action plan was created collaboratively by SKDT, Inspiralba, Campbeltown Community Council and Architecture and Design Scotland (ADS) in 2022, based on feedback from 879 people who took part in a community consultation.
The project will have two part-time posts, one with a development role and the other a focus on community growing.
In addition, there will be budget for a range of activities including workshops, biodiversity walks, cooking from local produce and more.
The groups look forward to launching the project at their stall ‘Doon the Green’ on Saturday August 12 during next week's Mull of Kintyre Music Festival.
Joined by colleagues from ADS, there will be information available and a chance for members of the public to have an input to the project.
Eric Spence, SKDT manager, said: “This funding will help us to realise the activities and actions outlined in our Campbeltown Community Action Plan and to take forward initiatives which can address some of the impacts to make our community more resilient to the impacts of climate change.”
