The coaches removed the young players from the horrendous underfoot conditions on the flooded all weather pitch at Dunoon, not waiting for a decision from the authorised officials.
The cup follows the SYFA rules and, due to the secretary and coaches' decision, the result was a forfeited game to the benefit of the home side; the forfeited scoreline goes down as 5-1.
Pupils coaches made the decision to remove the team after dropping to a team of 10 with three down injured due to the underfoot conditions, and with another taking ill dropping the team to nine, forcing an injured player into goal was the final straw.
Each team managed a goal each into the worst-affected half of the pitch, and all four other goals were scored into the 'dry-ish' first half.
A spokesperson for the U13s said: ‘Our players definitely dominated possession throughout but, to be honest, we should not have had to put our children on the pitch to begin with.
'But the coaches went with it and, as the weather stayed true to forecast, it became impossible. It was evident there was now no dry half advantage for our side in the second-half as both halves were now under water in parts.
'We could not continue in the conditions and really do not regret our decision - a flooded all weather pitch is usually a sign of a drainage problem due to the lack of maintenance and it can turn dangerously slippery.
‘Our young players know this scoreline is certainly not a score to be reflected on as a defeat and they can now continue in concentrating on their league games – so all the best U13s.’
