With many islanders unable to attend the main Scotland’s Women Gather event at the Scottish Parliament on Saturday June 24, the Stornoway Council Offices and Sgoil Lionacleit on Benbecula will host satellite events on the day.
The gathering, from 10am to 3pm, will enable women to meet up, join the livestream of the Scottish parliament event and participate in workshops led by local women.
Councillor Frances Murray will head the Stornoway event and Councillor Susan Thomson the Uist event. A light lunch will be available.
Scotland’s Women Gather celebrates women in political power at the Scottish Parliament. It also seeks to encourage women of any age to become more active in the political system.
Elect Her is a non-partisan organisation that supports women of all ages and backgrounds from across the UK to stand for political office.
Further information and a reservation form for the Stornoway and Uist events can be found via Eventbrite. Information is also available via the comhairle’s election office.
