A scheme that recognises and celebrates acts of kindness in Inveraray is seeking nominations for this year’s award.
The Inveraray Unsung Hero accolade has been presented in recent years to a wide variety of people whose personal efforts have contributed to the life of their community.
“We started doing the award a few years ago because Inveraray has lots of people that do nice things and are helpful to others in a quiet way and we thought they should be recognised for it,” explained community councillor Linda Divers.
“The nomination must come with a story as to why the person has been nominated, then the community council reads all the stories, and we vote amongst ourselves for the winner. The only rule is no member of the community council, even if they get nominated, can win.”
Last year’s Unsung Hero was Ian Lindsay, who was nominated for his tireless work at Inveraray Highland Games and the Royal British Legion Scotland Inveraray branch.
This year’s winner will be announced during the Christmas lights switch-on and parade on Saturday December 7.
Nominations can me made by messaging the community council via its Facebook page or by speaking in-person to one its members.
