Some people receiving letters were asked to travel miles to get their Covid boosters.
Elderly residents in Helensburgh were invited to clinics as far away as Dalmally.
Argyll and Bute HSCP put out a statement on social media explaining that 'unfortunately' some incorrect appointment letters had been issued by the National Vaccination Scheduling Service.
'Anyone who has received an appointment letter sent in error for covid-19 vaccination clinics outwith their own area, please disregard this appointment and you will be reappointed by letter shortly,' read the post.
And it added: 'Please accept our sincere apology for the error and any inconvenience caused.'
Correct scheduled clinic dates for Argyll and Bute can be found online at bit.ly/ABVacClinics
Those who received incorrect invitations can also call 08000 320339 if they would like to know the time and location of their new appointment. The enquiry line is open Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm.
One woman commented: 'Incompetence is a word that comes to mind. It is completely unacceptable that such an error could be allowed to happen again. Questions need to be asked. My 90-year-old father was expected to travel 77 miles from his home to get his booster.' And another person wrote: 'Never like this when the surgeries were in charge.'
Upcoming vaccination clinics at the Corran Halls, Oban, are April 14 for five-to-11-year-olds and April 25 from 10am to 3pm and 3pm to 6pm for that young age group as well as April 27 from 10am to 3pm and 3pm to 6pm. Letters will be sent out.
Letters will be sent out to over 75-year-olds and people who will be 75 by June 30 and are due their second booster for a clinic at Dalmally Hall from 10am to 3pm. This clinic will also accept walk-ins for all eligible cohorts without an appointment for first, second, third and first booster.
Appointments for that clinic are not available to book or re-schedule on the National Booking Service website.
Also at Dalmally Hall on May 6, there will be vaccinations for five-to-11-year-olds, 3pm to 4.30pm with invitation by letter only.
Connel Hall will be having a clinic for five-to-11 year-olds from 3pm to 5pm on May 10.
