Here is the moment a local musician saw his dreams become reality as he performed live with The Killers during a sell-out performance at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow.
Sam Hirschfield, 23, previously attended The Killers concerts in 2022 and 2023 in Falkirk and Edinburgh, with a sign asking to drum on the song For Reasons Unknown.
This year, at their performance in Glasgow, The Killers lead singer Brandon Flowers noticed him and invited him on stage for a dream gig with the band.
Before usual drummer Ronnie Vannucci Junior vacated his seat, Brandon asked Sam if he was ready - before he picked up the drum sticks and performed a flawless rendition of the track to a rapturous reception.
Sam said the band was very complimentary about his performance and seemed genuinely pleased for him.
His younger brother Jack filmed his big moment and posted it online - with fans hailing his performance as “knocking it out of the park”, “perfect”, saying he had “nailed it”.
Sam said: "To be on stage at a venue like that, thinking about how many other bands have stood there, was amazing.
“The Killers are my favourite group and shaking Brandon’s hand was surreal. They were so nice and welcoming as well, which was great.
“I have to say a huge thank you to everyone in the Arran High School music department for getting me into drumming and for their endless encouragement.
“Without them, and Arran Youth Foundations where I was allowed to practice at the youth cabin, I would never have been able to enjoy this dream come true.”
