A distillery on Jura has been granted planning permission to install a permanent bar and whisky tasting area in its existing storage unit.
The Isle of Jura Distillery Company, at Craighouse, can also set up an overspill area to be used for events along with carrying out various works.
Only one objection was received from the public by Argyll and Bute Council, from a neighbour who cited potential noise issues.
A planning officer said change of use requires minor alterations to the openings of the building, internal modifications and the replacement of an amenity ramp.
The applicant provided a written statement confirming that the proposed bar will be for whisky tasting by visitors only and it will not be open to the general public.
Five notified events over the year are established such as the Jura Music festival sponsored by Jura Whisky and therefore the roads infrastructure is already deemed capable.
The proposal to use the building just as a whisky tasting room with minimal external alterations raised no concerns in terms of impact on the nearby and wider area and was therefor consistent with relevant development policy.
