Wind farm fund boost for Kintyre groups
A number of local groups and community enterprise companies have received a boost to their funds thanks to Campbeltown Community Windfarm Fund (CCWF).
The charitable organisation was set up by Campbeltown Community Council to disburse funds received as community benefit from Scottish Power Renewables (SPR) and its Beinn an Tuirc 3 Wind Farm.
The recipients of the latest funding awards are: Shopper-Aide Ltd: £4,229.18; Kintyre Recycling Ltd: £4,000; Campbeltown Old Pals Club: £3,000; Campbeltown Community Council: £2,110.20; Campbeltown and District Juvenile Football Association: £3,000; Campbeltown Picture House: £1,328; McCorkindale School of Dancing: £750; Kintyre Link Club: £5,000; Scottish Community Drama Association Kintyre branch: £1,800; Dalintober Family Partnership: £3,000; Davaar Island Marine Conservation Initiative: £5,000; Kintyre Fish Protection and Angling Club: £3,000; Explore Kintyre & Gigha: £2,000; Kintyre Canoe Club: £2,140; Kintyre Songwriters Festival: £500; 1st Campbeltown Brownies: £825; Kintyre Youth Action Group: £2,000; Street Sports: £1,971.04; South Kintyre Development Trust: £3,761; Dunaverty Hall: £3,544.86; Kintyre Seasports; £3,000; Mull of Kintyre Half Marathon and 10k Race: £5,000; Kintyre Food Bank: £5,000.
A spokesperson for the fund said: “CCWF wishes all these groups success with their various projects and advises that a further disbursement of funds will take place in June 2025.
“This will be advertised on our website, www.campbeltowncommunitycouncil.uk, on Facebook and in the Campbeltown Courier nearer the time.
“Further information on how the community council is working together with EKREG to maximise benefits from the wind farms can be found at kintyrewind.com”
