Youth work project manager Graeme Johnston will, once again, run around the island to raise funds for Arran Youth Foundations (AYF).
Graeme previously ran the 56-mile route - with more than 1000m in elevation gain - in May 2023 and single-handedly raised £5,121 for the charity which helps young people to develop, build confidence, become resilient and to take on responsibility.
He said: "Running round Arran was by far the hardest challenge I’ve ever taken on. The only thing that got me through it - and the only reason I would ever be daft enough to do it again - was the unbelievable kindness of supporters and the amazing amount we raised.
"I know how tough this will be so I’ve been training extra hard for the last wee while. More than any amount of training though, the thing that will get me round when I’m 30 miles in, and still have another marathon to go, is if the fundraiser is climbing and climbing the way it did last time.
"I would greatly appreciate if folk could dig deep again for a great cause."
Last year, Graeme hoped to raise at least £2,500 for AYF, however, his efforts inspired a number of supporters who donated before and during the event, helping to raise £5,121 for the charity.
Lamlash-based AYF was established in 2008 with the aim of engaging young people of the island in fun and meaningful youth work activities. The organisation delivers daily activities for children and young people and is open to anyone of high school age.
Activities and events include regular sporting events, cooking lessons, musical tuition on a variety of instruments, support group meetings and a host of fun, social gatherings where participants can join with friends in a safe, warm and enriching environment.
The around Arran attempt will take place on Friday May 24 and Graeme says that encouragement, water and any other support will be greatly appreciated.
