Strachur and District Community Theatre’s production of Beauty and the Beast promises to bring magic, music and mayhem to the stage of Strachur Memorial Hall at the end of the month.
Directed by Sheena and Kirstie Dowse, the tale as old as time brings a Strachur spin to the story with more than 60 cast and crew members, including a talented youth ensemble from Strachur Youth Drama.
This true community effort will see the memorial hall transformed into a magical theatre space, showcasing the hard work and creativity of local performers on Friday January 31 at 7pm and Saturday February 1 at 2pm and 7pm.
Audiences will be offered tea, coffee, juice, and biscuits, included in the ticket price.
For the evening shows, a licensed bar will be available for pre-show and interval drinks and a prize raffle.
But tickets, on sale at Strachur Filling Station, will be snapped up fast as seating is limited.
The larger-than-life retelling of the beloved classic follows the enchanting journey of Belle, a spirited and headstrong village girl, who ventures into the mysterious castle of the Beast.
Once a proud and arrogant prince, the Beast has been cursed by a powerful enchantress and must learn to love and be loved in return to break the spell.
Belle bravely offers herself in place of her imprisoned father, Maurice, and soon discovers that the Beast may not be as fearsome as he seems.
With the help of the castle’s enchanted servants—including Mrs. Potts and her son Chip, Lumière, and Cogsworth—Belle begins to melt the Beast’s icy heart.
Meanwhile, the vain and arrogant huntsman Gaston, along with his bumbling sidekick LeFou, plots to win Belle’s hand—leading to plenty of comedy and chaos.
And as if that weren’t enough, there’s even a rampaging squirrel adding unexpected drama to the mix.
This fun-filled production combines show-stopping musical numbers, dazzling dance routines, and hilarious twists, making it a must-see event for audiences of all ages.
Sheena Dowse told the Advertiser: “Whether you’re a fan of fairy tales, musical theatre, or just love supporting local talent, “Beauty and the Beast” is guaranteed to deliver a magical experience.
“This production would not be possible without the generous support of Westlin Rail and Inverdell Ltd. Their contributions have helped bring this ambitious show to life, and the cast and crew are immensely grateful,” she added.
