The August 13 concert in Campbeltown Heritage Centre headlines with west coast fiddle and piano duo Archie McAllister and Sileas Sinclair following a solo performance by award-winning singer and songwriter Mairi Campbell.
They will be joined by a host of local and visiting musicians including Lorne MacDougall, Ciaran Mulholland and Ross Conner.
Archie has been playing fiddle for 40 years, becoming a full-time professional musician in 1994. He needs no introduction to the Campbeltown and Kintyre audience as he plays music with his family members and in bands including the Wee Toon Tellers.
He has played on many music projects and released his own solo album, Fiddler’s Rock, leading him to be nominated as “Best Instrumentalist” at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards in 2004. Joining him on Sunday afternoon will be Sileas Sinclair with whom he has played many memorable sets.
“We recommend that you look on YouTube where you can find a special recording for the Jura Whisky Festival,” said a MOKFest spokesperson. “Archie and Sileas are really looking forward to playing at this year's MOKFest.”
This afternoon concert is a firm festival favourite and the organisers thank Glengyle Distillery for once again supplying a free Kilkerran whisky miniature for all attendees.
The Mull of Kintyre Music Festival, one of the oldest annual festivals in Scotland, is a celebration of traditional and contemporary music, with the history and culture of Kintyre.
