But of course, studying full time isn’t the only way to learn: today’s wide selection of Modern Apprenticeships are a great way to get on the job experience, earn a wage and still get a recognised qualification. You might think apprenticeships are only for trades, but these days you can complete a Modern Apprenticeship in all sorts of jobs like aquaculture, cooking and hospitality, childcare, customer service, business administration and gardening and horticulture. Don’t worry if you haven’t yet submitted your UCAS application - the equal consideration deadline is 29 January 2025 so take your time and take advice on what to study and where to apply. UHI has a wide range of degrees, but you might also want to consider undertaking an HNC in your chosen subject area – in most cases you can step up directly into the second year of a degree once you have this qualification, and it can be a great way of learning without committing to a four-year programme.
