Mike Hills & Kerry Hyndman, North Connel
“RIC built our HebHomes kit house in 2022. We were very happy with the house on completion and the quality of their work is holding up very well. Their communication was outstanding from start to finish. They kept us informed at every stage of the project and promptly addressed any questions or concerns we had.
They clearly take a lot of pride in their craftsmanship and every part of the build was delivered with precision and care. They gave us a thorough breakdown of estimated costs at the start of the project, which allowed us to plan accordingly.
When there were inevitable price increases during the work, they were transparent about it and gave us clear options for how to proceed.
We would highly recommend Rochead and Irvine Construction to anyone looking to build a new home or have work carried out on their existing property.”
The Oban Times takes a closer look at the people and projects driving this thriving business forward.

Q: Can you share your thoughts on the importance of using local businesses?
In a close-knit community like Oban and the surrounding villages, supporting local businesses is crucial. It strengthens the local economy and creates valuable job opportunities for people within our community. Local contractors bring a deep understanding of the area, from knowing the best times of year for specific projects to navigating weather patterns and responding quickly to enquiries. This local knowledge and accessibility ensure smoother, more efficient projects.
Ultimately, choosing local businesses benefits everyone by fostering a stronger, more connected community.
Q: What is the ethos behind your company, and how do you differ from others?
Our ethos is built on integrity and transparency. Honest, clear communication between tradespeople and clients is the foundation of any successful project. By being upfront about timelines, costs, and potential challenges, we build trust and ensure everyone is aligned.
We also emphasize quality workmanship and a customer-first approach. By paying attention to detail and prioritizing client needs, we not only deliver better results but also forge lasting relationships.
