Storm Bert, which brought torrential downpours and freezing weather, had little impact on the large number of visitors and eager families who visited Santa’s Market last weekend.
The annual indoor Christmas market is one of the largest on the island and features numerous stalls, an array of live musical performances, festive food and the chance to meet Santa.
The event is organised by Karen Bell and her family and is well supported by local businesses, volunteers and Arran residents.
In addition to the stalls - representing just about every charity, business and organisation on Arran - visitors enjoyed traditional festive favourites including live music, raffles and tombolas, while making a start with their festive shopping.
Younger visitors, who were delighted to learn Santa had arrived on his Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliance, queued up to meet him and were rewarded with a box of chocolates and a toothbrush, both sponsored by Arran Dental Care.
Commenting on the success of the event, Karen Bell said: “The team gives a massive thank you to everyone involved, the stallholders, the volunteers and members of the community. It was a fantastic day.
“Thanks to Arran Dental Care for donating the selection boxes and tooth brushes for Santa’s grotto and thank you to our island’s fire service for bringing Santa to the school.
“Thank you to The Shore, The Shack and Grill and Fergie’s for supplying fantastic food.
“Thank you to LAGG Whisky, Arran Chocolate Factory, ARRAN Sense of Scotland, Arran Brewery, Arran Fine Foods Kitchen Shop, Auchrannie Resort, Red Door, The Parlour, Arran Cheese Shop, Chameleon Arran, The Shack and Grill, Arran Pharmacies and Elie’s Delight Cakes for all their fantastic donations to our raffle.
“Our job is done for now. We will see you all again next year for Santa’s Market 2025.”
The next event in the festive calendar is on Sunday December 1 when Bellevue Farm will be hosting its Christmas Fest Farmer’s Market at Blackwaterfoot between 11am and 2pm. Visitors can also expect local stalls, live music, festive food and a visit from Santa.
