Missing parts
Sir,
I have a question about the strange situation concerning the missing pipework for the dual fuel system on the Glen Sannox. Perhaps someone with a background in shipbuilding can come up with an answer?
I was in the Merchant Navy and served an apprenticeship in Glasgow at British Polar Engines. As I recall, when an engine was ordered, all equipment and pipework was supplied with that engine and came as a complete package. The same thing happened at sea; if an order for spares was sent you did not leave out any other parts.
Perhaps the manager at Ferguson Marine should have a look around the yard for the missing pipework. There has been no mention of missing pipework for the Glen Rosa or is this still to be disclosed? He has said on record all is well with the completion of the vessel.

Delicious boost for committee funds
Sir,
Brodick Improvements Committee was pleased to see so many people at its barbecue which enjoyed good weather.
Thanks go to the helpers who erected the marquee and set up the site, those who helped tidy up afterwards and everyone at the Ormidale for their work sourcing and providing all the consumables.
The event would not be the same without our tombola team, the raffle ticket sellers and the local businesses and groups and individuals who provided a range of prizes.
Thanks also to the ladies who cooked our burgers. We sold out for the first time, which demonstrates the quality of the food on offer.
We trust everyone enjoyed the day and are pleased to report takings were £600 up on last year which gives our funds a boost as we plan for the future.
