Subaru UK Achieves Continued Success with Sustained Sales in 2024
According to the latest SMMT annual report, Subaru achieved a 0.4% year-on-year sales growth, delivering 2,419 vehicles despite production challenges. The year also saw the brand celebrate a significant milestone—surpassing 250,000 all-time sales in the UK. Additionally, Subaru topped the prestigious Auto Express Driver Power survey, earning high praise from owners.
The Subaru Outback led 2024’s sales performance, accounting for 31% of total sales. This award-winning model, known for pioneering the crossover estate segment, continued to captivate customers with its robust off-road capabilities, practicality, and reliability. Meanwhile, the Forester SUV remained a strong contender, contributing 28% to overall sales.
Subaru’s all-electric Solterra reached new heights, representing 19% of total sales—its highest mix to date. Demand for the Solterra surged, resulting in the model selling out towards the end of the year. These figures align with the broader industry trend, as BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles) accounted for 19.6% of total UK car sales in 2024, according to SMMT.
The shift toward electrification continued across Subaru’s lineup, with 19% of its sales attributed to BEVs and an additional 51% to mild-hybrid powertrains, underscoring the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
Lorraine Bishton, Managing Director of Subaru UK, expressed pride in the brand’s accomplishments:
“Our 2024 results demonstrate another strong year for Subaru UK during a challenging period for the UK automotive industry. These numbers reflect the enduring appeal of our award-winning model range, combining dependability, safety, and fun across all powertrain options.”
Bishton also acknowledged the dedication of Subaru’s retail partners:

Looking ahead, Bishton hinted at an exciting year for the brand in 2025:
