The airline that operates twice daily flights to and from Campbeltown Airport is gearing up to give out grants of up to £5,000 to support sustainability projects across the UK.
Loganair, UK’s largest regional airline, is welcoming applications for its 2025 GreenSkies Community Fund, an initiative aimed at helping charities, community groups, and small businesses achieve their sustainability goals.
Applications are now open for submissions and will close on Monday, March 3, 2025.
Kintyre Food Bank was one of the successful projects in 2024, using its £1,426 grant to fund energy-efficient equipment and support the community.
Other beneficiaries last year included a plant nursery in Shetland that used its £4,449 funding to install solar panels and go off-grid during the summer, a heritage centre in Orkney that was awarded £3,600 to improve energy efficiency at its community venue, and a mental health centre in Northern Ireland, which received £3,500 to upgrade its 120-year-old building.
These projects illustrate the breadth of impact the GreenSkies Community Fund has, supporting organisations across a wide range of sectors in reducing their carbon footprints and improving sustainability.
Rebecca Borresen, director of safety and sustainability at Loganair, said: “Our GreenSkies Community Fund is a cornerstone of Loganair’s commitment to sustainability.
“We are proud to once again offer this opportunity to local organisations across our network, helping them make meaningful progress towards their environmental goals.
“We’ve seen these grants’ incredible impact in past years – from solar panels powering community facilities to energy efficiency measures helping reduce costs and environmental footprints.
“We look forward to receiving this year’s applications and supporting more communities in their journey towards a sustainable future.”
The GreenSkies Community Fund forms part of Loganair’s broader environmental programme, which includes commitments to emissions reduction, investment in sustainable aviation technologies, and achieving the ambitious target of becoming net zero by 2040.
Since its launch, the fund has supported numerous community projects and businesses across the UK in adopting greener practices and reducing their environmental impact.
The GreenSkies Community Fund is funded through a small mandatory carbon offsetting charge applied to every Loganair flight, with proceeds invested in accredited emissions reduction projects and community initiatives.
