Following the highly successful one-day event in Caol Community Centre last October, the Annat Gathering Group’s committee met again on Thursday February 13 and agreed on a tour route for their exhibition of photographs, memories and memorabilia.
More than one hundred former residents of the lost wartime village of Annat attended the one-day event.
Such is the public interest in this fascinating insight into the back story and legacy of the long-gone Admiralty village of 200 houses, that were cleared in 1954, that the Group has arranged through High Life Highland for it to be displayed in four other venues over the next four months.
In addition, with so much interest in this project, and with the amount of precious material gathered, the group is keen to preserve this information and have made arrangements with Lochaber Archive Centre as well as exploring the prospects of turning this engrossing story into a book.
If you or your family have links with Annat, the group would welcome your comments or input by contacting Jean Sneddon (Gibson) 07762932446 or Flora Cook (Chisholm) 07879634304, Jamie Gaukroger, Am Baile, Inverness or by email to info@highlifehighland.com.
