The author of a book about growing up on Gigha regaled members of Clachan SWI with tales about her childhood.
Moreen Moller, now resident in Clachan, was brought up on the nearby island and told the group’s members about her happy and interesting memories at their latest meeting.
“We all felt transported back to those times when life, with all its ups and downs, was shared and laughter was the way out of any difficult situation,” said a group spokesperson.
“Being surrounded by the sea, with only a small, weather-dependent boat service made for a resilient community which worked hard on the farms and enjoyed their ceilidh time together.”
Moreen’s book, ‘Gigha, the Free State’, which bears her maiden name MacDonald, records this special time with many photographs of Gigha characters.
She was thanked for sharing her stories with the ladies and kindly answered their many questions, before the evening’s competitions were judged, tea was served and the raffle was drawn.
