The Scottish Government’s plans to solve long-running transport problems at the Rest and Be Thankful have gone on display today at traveling public exhibition.
The exhibition opens today at Victoria Hall in Campbeltown from 1 to 7pm before moving on Thursday to Lochgilphead Bowling Club from 1 to 7pm. On Friday it visits Lochgoilhead Village Hall between 1 and 6pm, heads on Monday January 20, to Queen’s Hall in Dunoon from 1-7pm before stopping on Tuesday January 21 at Three Villages Hall in Arrochar from 1-3pm.
Chairman of the RABT campaign group John Gurr says that there are a number of gaps in the explanatory materials that will be on display - put urged people to see for themselves what is on the table.
He said: "“We welcome the public exhibitions that Transport Scotland is running but when we reviewed the material that will be used in this exhibition, there are a couple of omissions that we feel are important to let people know about.
Transport Secretary Fiona Hyslop has defended the Scottish Government’s approach, highlighting ongoing improvements to the Old Military Road.
She said: “We’ve made progress in enhancing the temporary diversion route.
"The first phase of improvements, including realignment of the southern end, was completed earlier this year. Future phases, such as widening sections of the road, installing new bridges, and implementing landslide mitigation measures, are planned for 2025.”
