Oban Hospice is gearing up to host its third annual ceilidh to fundraise for its new improved Dove Centre.
The ceilidh will take place on Saturday March 1 in the Argyllshire Gathering Halls, Oban.
Organised by the 23 volunteers on the fundraising committee, entry is £14 per person or £30 for a family of four.
Talented local performers scheduled to take part include Hector McFadyen, Sileas Sinclair, Oban Gaelic Choir, Joanie and Michael Garvin, Sarah Garvin, Angus McColl, Ross MacPherson, Kevin McGlynn, Rebecca Hill, Isla Munro Dancers, Cara MacInnes, Oban High School Traditional School of Music and Oban High School Pipe Band.
As well as the entertainment, there will be a buffet with home-baking made by volunteers and donated by the public.
The hospice has poured its resources into buying and renovating new premises at 19 Stevenson Street, across the street from its current base.
The ceilidh is part of the charity’s efforts to recoup costs and fund its important work with cancer patients.
Ann May, from the charity’s board and fundraising team, said: "With the new centre coming up, we need funding more now than ever."
The new Dove Centre will open two days after the ceilidh, on March 3, with open days offering tours of the building planned for the following weekend.
The centre will be closed for a week from February 21 while furniture is moved in.
A bigger and better space, the new Dove Centre is a permanent location for the charity, which leases its current space.
It will give them a more permanent footing and the chance to do more good work. But more work requires more volunteers.
"There’s a volunteering place for everyone," said hospice co-ordinator Peter Darling. "Everyone can help out somehow; there’s a variety of roles.
"Plus it’s always nice to have new faces because new people look at things differently. Some amazing ideas have come from our volunteers."
The current Dove Centre has been the charity’s home since 2017.
The new Dove Centre will be open between 2pm and 4pm on March 1 to collect any donations to the buffet.
