Nigel Scott, the Communications Officer with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar from 1995 until recently, died this morning (Friday November 15) after a short period of illness, the council has said in a statement.
In a letter to staff and council members, Malcolm Burr, Chief Executive of Comhairle, said: “It is with great sadness that I write to let you know that Nigel Scott, Senior Policy Adviser, and Communications Officer for so many years, our colleague in the Service and the Comhairle, and friend to so many, passed away earlier today following a short illness.
“He was a man of great kindness and goodwill, in addition to his considerable professional skills and attributes. We will so miss our conversations with him.”
“Our prayers and deepest sympathies go to his wife Angie, his children Megan, Mairi and Sam, his brother Richard and to each other, who have lost both a colleague and a friend.”
