A 31-year-old man would demand photographs from his partner to prove where she was, contact her friends demanding to know her whereabouts and search her social media to monitor her movements and relationships.
At the February sitting of Campbeltown Sheriff Court, he admitted that he engaged in a course of abusive behaviour towards his now ex-partner which stretched from April 1 2019 to April 28 2023.
Procurator fiscal depute Ewan Nicholson described the man, who cannot be named as it would identify the woman, as "extremely jealous”, with a “controlling and coercive character”.
On one occasion, he made her repeat a journey so that it could be timed as he did not believe her when she said how long it had taken.
Sheriff Euan Cameron had previously called for reports before sentencing, and the man’s defence agent referred to the reports in his mitigation.
The sheriff placed him on a 12-month community payback order, under supervision, and he must complete 198 hours of unpaid work in the community within a year. A 12-month non-harassment order was also put in place.
