In celebration of British Science Week (March 7-16), The GRAB Trust is hosting a series of free workshops, including one in Campbeltown, for people to learn about the science of mental health and wellbeing.
Members of the community are invited to meet at Campbeltown War Memorial at 1.30pm on Saturday March 22, for “an enlightening event all about the scientifically supported techniques and benefits of nature on our health and wellbeing”.
A spokesperson for The GRAB Trust said: “Discover the research and try out simple ways to use green spaces to improve our mental and physical health. From reducing stress to boosting our immune system, try out methods to see how nature plays a crucial role in our overall wellbeing.
“Find out for yourself if mindfulness and wellbeing is as good as all the hype says.”
Organisers are asking attendees to ensure they are dressed for the weather on the day and wear sturdy footwear.
“We will be outdoors for the entire event and it will involve a mixture of discussions and activities, including a short litter pick and litter survey,” said the spokesperson.
“We’ll be using public green spaces so if you want to be sure of a seat or mat to sit on the ground, please bring your own.
“All ages are welcome to join us; children should be supervised by a responsible adult.
“We would like to welcome all abilities to join us too. The event is planned to involve some walking, standing and sitting/kneeling on the ground. If these are difficult for you, please just let us know, ideally in advance, so we can try to cater for your needs.
“There is a range of activities, if any of them is too difficult for you, please skip it and join us for whatever you feel up to on the day.”
Similar workshops will be hosted in Oban, Lochgilphead, Dunoon and Cove – visit ‘The GRAB Trust’ organiser profile on the Eventbrite website to see all the listed dates.
