Brodick’s St Brides Church has welcomed its new minister - Dr Knowledge Zinduru.
Originally from Zimbabwe, the Rev Zinduru was inducted on Saturday February 22 much to the joy of the congregation who said their prayers had been answered.
The new minister who is married with two sons, Tao aged nine and Liam who is four, became a minister in Zimbabwe in 2011 and first came to Scotland in February 2023 following the footsteps of bis brother Everisto who is a minister on the Cowal peninsula in Dunoon.
Since the Rev Zinduru came to Scotland he has been spending his time in a Familiarisation Placement in Faifley and Duntocher Parish Church in Glasgow under the supervision of the parish minister.
He also has an Honours degree, a Masters where he studied Leadership and Conflict Resolution, and he has a PhD.
Sharon MacLeod wrote: "The induction service cause for celebration, it is four years since there has been an active Church of Scotland minister on the island and is something that the congregation has been praying and hoping for.
"The service was well attended with a large contingent from Faifley and Duntocher joining the folk from Arran.
"There was also a large turn out from the Presbytery of the South West and ministers and elders who associated themselves with the Presbytery, including a pew full of Scottish ministers originally from Africa, including Everisto.
"The Rev D Watson from Largs led the service preaching a thought provoking and, at times, laugh out loud sermon about Christian Love in which he somehow managed to introduce a flavour of the film Frozen!
"The Clerk, Christine Murray, and the Rev Taylor Brown who is Depute Clerk of Presbytery, then continued with the formal part of the service including asking Knowledge a series of questions before Knowledge signed the Formula officially making him the new minister.
"Congregation and Presbytery members offered him the right hand of fellowship, and also some hugs."
After the Service there was a lunch followed by the welcome social at which Knowledge, his wife Patricia and the two boys were welcomed to the congregation and to the community and received gifts.
Liz Clarke, who had been Locum Minister for nearly four years and the Rev Tom Macintyre who was Interim Moderator for three and a half years were thanked and also received gifts from the congregation.
Dr Zinduru said when he applied for the role: "I am deeply committed to mission and firmly believe that God is guiding me to utilise my talents and expertise in Scotland to support existing members of the Christian community and to evangelise to those without a personal connection to God."
The Isle of Arran congregation now eagerly looks forward to working with him in all his endeavours, to grow the Kingdom of God together here on Arran and beyond.
